Introduction

Welcome!

My name is Tom Hammer. I have worked in the Information Technology industry since 1981 and have seen many changes. Working primarily with small businesses and since 2003, more specifically, with non-profit businesses. I know how difficult it is for businesses to budget for technology and stay (somewhat) current with technology. This blog will serve to assist small businesses with best practices, system administration, and tips. I have always been frustrated with the duplicated postings of 50-thousand-foot view “solutions” on the web, so I will try to provide detail, specifics, and reasoning.

My blog will start with a multi-part series called “IT Basics for Small Businesses.” Originally posted on Experts-Exchange in 2010, I’ll revise it in this blog with current information. As often as technology changes, a revision is way overdue and likely a work in progress. So, keep checking back!
